Launch two new e-commerce websites and mobile apps

My role
Lead UX designer

To replace the old legacy products which are no longer maintainable and to allow the business to react quickly to new user needs. This was for both Wiggle and Chain reaction brands.

Understand who our customers are through interviews & data

My role
Researcher

We interviewed 10+ participants and identified 3 different archetypes through affinity mapping and segmenting the data. I created multiple assets including empathy maps, journey maps and persona posters, quick cards & more...

Become familiar with our customers purchase journey

My role
Researcher

Using the interview data in combination with the existing Google Analytic data and Hotjar heatmaps we were able to create data rich user journey maps using the 3 archetypes and 5 common e-commerce shopper types

Improve the navigation experience and product taxonomy

My role
Information architect & researcher

Working with the SEO lead we reduced the number of categories from 700+ to 400. Creating a more concise less repetitive structure with improved search engine rankings and usability scores.  I ran multiple rounds of card sorts and tree tests to guide us in the right direction.

Run ideation workshops to solve a process issue & collaborate

My role
Facilitator

I introduced these workshops after I noticed questions coming too late in the process requiring rework of designs previously signed off. It included knowledge gaps, ideation and inspiration activities. It also meant we explored multiple options for each area of the website & app.

Iterate through requirements to build out the basics of an e-commerce app

My role
UX Designer

I worked with a cross-functional team consisting of a Product Owner, UI designer, a Tester, 2x IOS and 2x Android developers. I worked very closely with the PO and UI designer on both the roadmap and designs.

Launch both mobile applications on IOS and Android platforms

My role
UX Designer

The UI Designer did a great job of transforming the wireframes into UI mockups. Together we guided the developers by reviewing their implementations and correcting any mistakes. In 2023 the mobile apps were launched!

Measure success through surveys, reviews and analytics

My role
Researcher & Data Analyst

The website team were already busy building surveys to send to our customers. The app did not have this capability yet. Instead I used the 100s of reviews coming in to the app and play stores to guide us on the highest impacting issues to fix.

Present a prioritised post-launch UX debt backlog to continue iterating

My role
Lead UX Designer

By combining the existing UX debt with the product owners missing features list and the survey plus app store reviews I was able to present a prioritised list from a UX perspective to the PO and influence the road map.
